Happy Holidays everyone~!

Drink a glass of eggnog and kiss someone under the mistletoe for me~ ;D

Not too much going on lately outside of drawing like crazy until I burn out like Taiki or Beet the Vandal Buster.

Still doing commissions, though I'm plowing through much smaller ones faster than the comics. I apologize for the delay, still plotting and planning. @_@ I want them to be good and worth the money after all. Eddarion and World of Chaos are the ones I plan to focus on atm, with Ghost Xone and Paradise Xone to resume after the new year. If I'm forgetting any others, please let me know.

I've been wanting to get the Roachmon comic done before the premier of Digimon Adventure Tri next year, since that is meant to tie into the eventual Zone adaption. How's everyone enjoying it so far?

And on the subject of Tri, I've had a lot of people ask my opinion on it. I mean, the biggest Digimon enthusiast 'round these parts, surely this ought to be up his alley, right?

Savers and Xros Wars I was super excited for, but Tri I'm having difficulty getting excited for.

I mean, if Blue's not feeling it, then somethin's up!

I will say I think from a narrative standpoint, returning to Adventure may not be the best idea. I mean, it's been shown sequels haven't panned out well in story quality, so this already has one thing going against it.

From a business standpoint, Adventure's nostaligic, and therefore will print money. Very understandable, and I hope it continues to make money. I really do.

Not to mention the fans, oh gosh the fans: shipping wars, 02 wars, shipping wars, Mega Level wars, shipping wars, you see where I'm going with this. Seeing as we know NOTHING about Tri still, people are already making ideas that come off as hard fact. All this excitement and build up to a show that may be the total opposite of what fans (think) they want, to the point if it's not what they (think) they want, they'll start table flipping like Gankoomon and might kill the franchise. Though even if it WAS the perfect series with the perfect ships, the perfect Digimon battles and the perfect scenario where the eight kids crucifix and burn Takuya, Masaru, Taiki and Tagiru at the stake, someone'll still pitch a fit.

I admit I fear the fans, but I'm trying not to let them dictate my own feelings towards Digimon. It's a work in progress tho'.

Recently it's been confirmed 02 is still in continuity with Tri, so that should at least put out any retcon fires.

My own thought on the subject of a 02-less Adventure was that Tri would be the new 02; that Tri is the adventure that happened instead in an alternate universe. Mostly I thought of that as a way to avoid some of the messy "EVERYONE HAS A DIGIMON" bit, but I in no way condoned the idea either. So I'm happy that 02 is sticking around, though it's hard to say what that means for the story anyway at the moment. As I said before, there might be some cleanup like what was seen in Ben 10 Omniverse, but it will hopefully stay true to the spirit of the series as well.

As for what the 02 crew could be doing given the lack of focus on them, well, one idea tossed about involved the accompanying manga. Perhaps the manga this round could be a sidestory involving Davis' and crew's exploits, while the anime focuses on Tai's.
I'd be totally open for such an idea, sort of a Pokemon Red and Blue kinda deal, lol.

The change in style for some seems to suggest the opposite, but style changes aren't new. After all Savers looked like Bleach and Hunters looked like PreCure, so Tri looking like Tsuritama is no exception.

Speaking of the new art style, I don't hate it. I'm just neutral to it until we start seeing it in action. I don't like the poster though, and that's mostly from a design perspective. No offense, but the poster and the new logo look like fan art from Pixiv, though ironically, Pixiv's been pumping out artwork of the characters of far better quality (and in a style similar to the original Adventure to boot). The official art has awkward poses, still expressions and somewhat dull designs (all that blue in their uniforms is blending in to the background).

The lack of Digimon on the poster is a little disappointing, since I'd personally like to see what they all look like in that new style. Though I'd like to think they'd show up in another future poster.

V-Jump did show what appeared to be storyboards featuring what some believe are Warp Digivolutions, notably of HerculesKabuterimon, so that at least seems to confirm the other six are catching up to Omnimon. I'll admit THAT much has me a little more excited, since like everyone else, I don't think any of us want a cheesy high school slice of life drama.

Last thing any of us want is the shy, socially awkward anthro Digimon flashing his surprisingly hot body at the home room teacher or Angewomon running to school with a piece of toast in her mouth.

All that said though, I just want to enjoy it, and I'm sure I will once we have more to work with.

Personally I'm gunning for a storyarc around that virus attacking both the DigiWorld and the DigiWorld Iliad, but I'm still open to whatever it is they've got in mind.

Meanwhile Cyber Sleuth's looking to be pretty interesting. I mean any story that opens up with a cutscene of a Royal Knight (Examon in this case) eating it gets a plus in my book. Plus, it looks like Agumon isn't the starter this round, and instead that roles goes to Terriermon, Palmon and Hagurumon. Agumon (and Gabumon) are instead partners to one of the supporting characters, that one red head in the fancy-tacky dress. Like V-Tamer, the two merge into Omnimon acting as the primary partner. Everything about this game looks really cool, from the warped DigiQuartz like landscapes and the Minecraft looking DigiFarm. Even has a neat nod to Re:Digitize, by having Mirei guest star as the manager of the aforementioned DigiFarm. I don't think this means Re:Digitize and Cyber Sleuth occur in the same Zone though, but then I'm kind of surprised at how people seem to forgo the simple AU explanation and try to shoehorn everything in the same timeline.

Or maybe I'm just conditioned for it too well given my penchant for alternate dimension stories.

Ah well, regardless of my concerns, I'm very interested to see where Tri goes. Hopefully it officially ends with Tri though. While Adventure does print money, let's look at it this way: People want Ash and Team Rocket to go burn in hell after a decade or so, do we really want the same to happen with Tai?

Back before Tri was announced, I was really hoping they would do a "Digimon Adventure 1.5" inbetweenquel (tying the title into the "15th" anniversary), that way we could have further adventures of the original crew in their younger, more recognizable and marketable forms (and sidestep the too-many-characters expanded 02 roster).  I'm sure Tri will be interesting enough, but I'm not sure there's quite as much nostalgia with an older crew.  Still, I'm just surprised and glad they actually announced a new Digimon Adventure series.

The poster isn't what I was expecting, and I find it very bland and generic, with them all in school uniforms and in plummeting-to-their-deaths-but-don't-care girlie anime poses.  I do hope they give them better eyes and look up a reference for their skintones in the actual show.  I feel like the poster was drawn by someone with no familiarity with Digimon.  The fanart is fantastic!

I'm not sure why people have jumped to slice-of-life anime fantasies ever since the cast was said to be high school age.  It's still Digimon, and there's presumably an Adventure involved.  I'm not worried about that yet.

As for the "fandom," yeah, best to avoid those guys.  They drive me batty, but they don't affect my love of Digimon.
