Description

I had been keeping an eye on this new Transformers subline and future television series for a while now.

Called Transformers Rescue Bots, it follows the adventures of a secrete team of Autobots and Humans who use their special skills to defend humanity from natural disasters and crime.

Perhaps a reboot of the original Transformers Playskool outings, this series is really aimed at a much younger demographic compared to Transformers Prime. That said, seeing how mature and sinister Prime can be (in addition to still managing to be somehow dull), this toyline and TV series set to air sometime next year on The Hub should balance out the appropriate dose of entertainment between both age groups.

Then again, if today's generation are growing up on the mindlessly brutal Bayformers, then Prime really shouldn't be that much of a concern in hindsight, but I do like they're at least considering a much more light hearted approach that hasn't been seen since Animated's departure.

Which is what led to this.

While I'm clearly not the intended age group, I can't help but be attracted to Rescue Bots over Prime. That owes itself primarily to its intended, simple premise which seems to be a late response to Machine ROBO Rescue ([link]) which is part of the Japanese line of the GoBots.

Unlike previous Transformers titles, Rescue Bots seems to exclude any one of the Con variety, though if they were there, the ever obligatory Megatron, Starscream and presumably Soundwave would be involved I'm sure. After all, the new Autobot line up has all newbies outside of the obligatory Optimus and 'Bee. I am a little curious as to why the obligatory Ratchet (as of the Movie-verse) wasn't included here though.

Despite there not being any 'Cons so far in Rescue Bots, the inclusions of the Predacons was something I was tinkering with for a more wide appeal, all ages type of comic book.

Why the RiD Predacons? They were always my favorite, and as this sort of sounds similar to the RiD concept, it seemed wrong not to draw them.

What I was initially thinking was that instead of the Decepticons, the Predacons (which would include others like Waspinator, Rampage, Bruticus, Hydra, etc.) would be the antagonists in addition to the criminals and disasters. In fact, the Predacons would be a type physical manifestation of the disasters with each one controlling a certain element (Sky-Byte-Water, Gas Skunk-Earth for example) and using it in addition to their other abilities (Shark Missiles, Gas Attack) to oppress the Autobots.

Though whether this makes them Cybertronian or some kind of alternate alien entities that happen to be Transformers as well (the case for a few Brave series), I'm not sure.

I actually thought of pitching this to IDW for a light hearted approach to counteract the mindnumbingly serious nature the current G1 story line has been taking lately. I doubt they would take it, but hey a little diversity never hurt anything.

Well, I'll say this: Your concept isn't far off. In fact, it was even utilized in Machine Robo Rescue.
