So I just finished an old '90's XEBEC series titled Martian Successor Nadesico: One of the best series I've seen in a long time (not counting the sequel film).
It's a science fiction comedy-drama series that's set in a "Real Robot" genre, but also uses "Super Robot" genres in the form of an in-universe anime "Gekiganger 3". Basically the world's version of Getter Robo and various 70's Super Robot shows rolled into one. How much of an impact that show has on the story is brilliant and well written I can't even begin to describe...!
So I made a version of Blue that lives within the Nadesicoverse.
I find myself making versions of Blue to fit into other worlds so why fight it.
While the characters use "Gundam" like robots, "Blue Drifter" here uses a robot he claims is from some part of the "Gekiverse": Gekiganger Skull. Basically Black Getter Robo and Mazinkaiser SKL fused together with a halloween theme. He doesn't use the GekiSkull right away though, and only uses it once things gets hairier in the war with the "Jovian Lizards".
He mysteriously makes his way into the Nadesico and sticks around, "haunting it" as pilot Ruri calls it. He doesn't immediately remember what he came on the Nadesico to do, but once the secrets of Mars become clearer, he sets out in the GekiSkull in what he feels he needs to do.
The best way to describe Blue Drifter's personality is a mix of his Digimon self with some of the rabbit character in the Thundercats remake.
